Hillel Torah is an affiliate of the Associated Talmud Torahs, Chicago’s central agency for Orthodox Jewish education. It derives its basic instructional goals from the Torah:
“Thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children” (Dvarim, 6:7).
Hillel Torah has become one of the country’s leading Jewish day schools in the implementation of new curricula in both Judaic and General Studies. Some examples are the Tel Am and NETA Hebrew language program, 6+1 writing curriculum and Handwriting Without Tears. We are proud of our students’ success in the Asher and Kaplun Essay Contests, the Stock Market Game, and participation by our students in Northwestern University’s Midwest Talent Search, as well as their consistent presence on the local and national and international stage in the Chidon Tanach.
Our day school is in complete compliance with the rigorous high standards of the Illinois State Board of Education. Hillel Torah is accredited by and recognized by the prestigious North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement, an accreditation higher than the Illinois State Board of Education accreditation. Our school is under the constant supervision of NCASI supervisors to ensure that our academic program maintains its high standards.
Our intensive Judaic studies program is open to students whose familial background and congregational affiliation cover the broad spectrum of practices in modern Orthodox communal life. We endeavor to develop knowledgeable and committed Jews through intensive exposure to Torah and rabbinic tradition.
We introduce each child to the world of Torah studies and the Jewish faith, using traditional sources and texts with Hebrew as the primary language of instruction. Innovative methods are employed in a learning environment replete with Judaic resources.
Our comprehensive general studies instructional program is devised to help children develop proficiency in all skills. In our commitment to excellence, a learning environment is provided with a variety of educational materials and instructional resources tailored to individualized needs, in order to develop knowledgeable individuals with a positive self-image.
