Curriculum Overview

  • Basic Operations: Powering up & closing down the computer, mousing, opening and closing windows and applications, familiarity with menus.  Logging in and out of the network, accessing and organizing folders and files, ability to name and save documents.

  • Drawing/Painting: Create and manipulate images, become familiar with painting and drawing tools.

  • Graphics: Create graphics, combine text and graphics, and import graphics from a variety of resources.

  • Menu Bar: Understanding and familiarity with open, print, close, quit, cut, copy, paste, and shortcuts.

  • Keyboarding: Focusing on appropriate left- and right-hand location of the home row keys with increasing accuracy and speed.

  • Internet Use: Use of web browsers to navigate, locate, and research information on the World Wide Web using appropriate bibliographic citations of resources used.

  • Multi-tasking: Opening and switching among multiple applications.

  • Presentation: Create presentations involving sound, and graphics, using presentation applications.

  • Publishing: Demonstrate the ability to create layouts for presentation purposes.

  • Spreadsheet:  Design and produce a chart using real life data; ability to manipulate between a spreadsheet and a graph so data can be interpreted.

  • Word Processing: Create, manipulate, and edit documents using the computer.
