Curriculum Overview

The young scientist of eighth grade will explore the wonders of science through experiments, research, technology, and discovery.  Small and large groups will become actively involved in conducting experiments to help them determine the cause and effects that occur, as well as to analyze and draw conclusions at the end of lab work.

The content of the curriculum is designed to encourage students to savor science and inspire them to strive for further knowledge.  The Physical, Life, and Earth Science Prentice hall textbooks will serve as a great tool to identify specific concepts and increase the development of their scientific investigation skills taught throughout the year.

The following outline provides the main unites that will be covered throughout the year:

A variety of assessments will be utilized to encourage students to develop their talents and aim for high grades.  The specific factors for grading will consist of the following:

  1. Homework
  2. Projects
  3. In-Class Assignments
  4. Quizzes and Tests

The science program will promote a positive learning environment that will encourage students to become inquisitive and investigative scientists throughout the year.
