Our 4th grade Judaic Educational Program includes:

I. Tefilla- Prayer  תפילה

·         Daily Prayers for Shacharit.

·         Shabbat Prayers and Zemirot; review basic Tefilot as well as Amida for Shabbat

·         Rosh Chodesh Prayers; Yaleh veYavo; Hallel; Musaf

·         Be’ur Tefilah (explanation of basic ideas and words; Kavanah; Emunah)

·         Halacha Yomit- A daily study of one Jewish law or practice.

·         Special attention will be given this year to improving accuracy and fluency of reading in the Siddur.

II. Chumash  חומש

·         First Parshiot of Sefer Shemot. Highlighting: Chumash vocabulary, shoresh and phraseology; prefixes & suffixes; Significance of Mitzvot and Middot; relevant morals and lessons

·         Developing skills in Rashi reading and understanding, identifying Rashi’s question and answer on the text

·         Introduction to Midrashim and Mefarshim as well as to Gematriyah

·         Parshat HaShavua: The Weekly Torah Reading: Mitzvot; Midot. This year we will also incorporate into our parsha class the Yachad lessons in caring community and anti-bullying.

     III.  Dinim- Jewish Law דינים

A.  Mitzvot Yom Yom (continued encouragement of performance of previously taught Mitzvot Bain Adam LeMakom uB'ain Adam LeChavero; Tzedakah)

B.  Birchot HaNehenin for partaking of various foods; Derech Eretz Ba’se’udah, Birkat Hamazon

C. Dinei HaMoadim Bizmanaihem-Law of Jewish holidays around the year

D. Dinei Shabbat- Kiddush, Havdala   

E. Be’ur Tefilah (explanation of basic ideas and words; Kavanah; Emunah)

 

IV. Navi  נביא

Sefer Shoftim.  Chapters depicting the major events and personalities of the Judges who led Israel following the settlement of the Land and the death of Yehoshua.  Emphasis is put on the behavioral cycle of the nation leading to their troubles, appointment of a new judge, and salvation.

V. Mishna-  משנה

Introduction to the study of Torah Shebe’al Peh-- the Oral Law and the Tanaim: Mishnaic terminology, using the new Bonayich model
